Yes, we are crowdfunding, and need your help!!
What does 'crowdfunding' mean?
Well, we're asking kind customers and fans from Bristol and beyond to back our project to raise some money for 280 Bakes. We're a small start-up, with little capital to spare, and we need a little boost to take the next step in our business plan.
We are asking for contributions to fund trademarking of our brand of '280 Bakes' and #cakeOD to protect against mis-use when we move into a social enterprise franchise model business. You can pledge as little or as much as you like, but we only have until 17th June to raise the cash!
Our target is £340!!!!
If the funding isn't complete by 17/6/16, your money will not be parted from you - Kickstarter, our crowdfunding website team, are very clear about this. If you would like to be part of the next development stage of 280 Bakes, not only would you make our day, but there's also cake-based rewards (and more) depending on how much you pledge.
Pledges are already coming in, thank you so much to those who have joined in the fun!
Hope you can support us - we're very excited for the next phase of 280 Bakes!
Owner, 280 Bakes
You may know that 280 Bakes is a producer for Westbury-on-Trym Country Market? We normally sell every Friday morning from the Baptist Church in Westbury, Bristol, from 10.30-11.30am, but today was different. Today was our local summer fete: Canford Park Fair.
I joined seven or eight other local producers to the Country Market with their jams, chutneys, crafts, garden plants and gifts, and sold 280 Bakes cakes.
Was anyone who's reading this there this morning? Our first hour was extremely wet under huge downpours, but the rest of the day was fantastic. Dry weather, lots of people in attendance at the fair, and lots of interest in my bakes and the Country Market in general.
One lady was actively seeking 280 Bakes at the Fair and told us so - I was flattered!
I met Justin Lee Collins (comedian and TV presenter - Friday Night Project with Alan Carr, that's my favourite memory).
And... drum roll...
280 Bakes sold out!!!!
(aside from one slice of fruit cake which will do for tea tonight - perfect!)
There was a little bit of "10% off my last cakes or they'll end up in my freezer!" calling as I walked back to the car with my last few cakes from the stall, and that finished me off! So proud!
What a great first summer event! Bring on the next one!
Like what you see? Come to Westbury-on-Trym this Friday and meet the other traders at the Country Market. Before then, check us out on Facebook! All items for sale are made locally by some truly lovely people who will be very pleased to see you. Probably the cheapest cup of coffee in Bristol too, so why not come and see what the Country Market is all about?!
Just an aside... I bumped into a friend of mine, Julia Gurr, with her business 'Forever Living' (natutal health products) at Canford today. Funnily enough, we had stalls neighbouring each other!
See you Friday or before if you're ordering from us this week!
Just because tea and cake go so well together, we will be giving away a box of Pukka Tea with every order £10 and over this month (May 2016, while stocks last). Order your cake now and we'll deliver!
So, what can you get for £10 and up from 280 Bakes?
* Vegan * Wedding Cakes * Gluten Free * Cupcakes (min order 6) *
* Birthday Cakes * Office treats * Low Sugar * Home Bakes *
...and we take requests for cakes you love and crave! Our vegan Bakewell Tart from last month was a request, as was the diabetic Lemon Poppy Seed Cake this weekend, so give us a try. If we've not baked it before, you get 10% off!
Order your cakes now, and enjoy with a nice cup of Pukka Tea (thanks Pukka!).
